The WhatsApp messaging application works on a new function that will allow users to easily discover businesses, with the Business version, that are close to their location. The function will be in the app’s search engine, so that, in addition to documents, photos or videos, you can also find commercial premises close to your location.
It is a sort of location-based directory and is currently in the testing phase in São Paulo, Brazil. When accessing this directory, users will see a list with all the businesses that exist around them. The directory will be classified according to its category such as restaurants, shops or local services.
Boosting business
The new function is similar to that of Telegram, in which you can locate nearby people to contact them. However, WhatsApp is aimed at nearby businesses and stores where they can request information, review the menu and make the purchase.
Due to the fact that the new function has business as its characteristic, it gives it a lot of interest because it will enhance the experience for both users and the business. On the one hand, users have the possibility of contacting nearby businesses, while businesses, in turn, will be able to increase their sales and obtain higher income.
The new feature is being developed for Andoid and for iOS, and although there is no definitive release date, it is expected to be highly responsive to users in 2022.
