Venezuela launches new electronic card for trading with Petro

The president announced that with the special card commercial transactions linked to the Venezuelan cryptoactive can be carried out

As an alternative to stimulate Petro cryptocurrency in Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the launch of a new electronic card for commercial transactions in the Caribbean country.

The innovative tool called Tarjeta de la Patria, will serve as a way to familiarize the population with the cryptoactive, recognizing that the usability of a digital currency is not so simple. “The people must know how to handle the Petro. I know that it is not easy but it can be facilitated. The process can be refined with the Carnet de la Patria. That’s why a special electronic card comes”, emphasized the National Executive.

The announcement was made at an event held at the Caracas Military Circle on the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, where he also informed that an incentive will be added to those already announced in the month of December that will be quoted by disabled people through the Carnet de la Patria.

Alternatives to Petro

As Morocotacoin reported on October 8, the Venezuelan crypto exchange platform CriptoLago, together with Fintech Glufco, announced the launch of a new debit card for the use of crypto assets in Venezuela, with support for transactions in bitcoin, ethereum, dash and petro.

However, the crypto card will not offer support for fiat currencies and neither for the bolívar. Glufco referred to its newly launched debit card and the PoS system (point of sale) as a “cryptocurrency transfer device.”
