Venezuela’s mass consumption market grew 8.4 % in units during 2025

According to Alexander Cabrera, partner and commercial director of Atenas Grupo Consultor, last year 87 % of households in Venezuela began allocating their savings to finance consumption

The sustained increase in the price of goods and services has led Venezuelans to allocate their savings to consumption. This was indicated last week by Alexander Cabrera, partner and commercial director of Atenas Grupo Consultor.

The executive highlighted that in 2025, “the mass consumption market in Venezuela experienced an 8.4 % growth in units, which means that 9 % more units were sold compared to 2024.”

According to Cabrera, 87 % of households began using their savings to cover consumption expenses. Regarding this, he added that “in terms of prices, it’s a market that experienced growth of around 29 %, and despite this, there was an increase in units sold.”

In 2025, average consumption was 17.7 million units per week, and so far in 2026, it’s estimated at 19 million units per week.

However, Cabrera cautioned that the observed increase in consumption “not only reflects an improved economy, but also a shift in consumer mindset, with people now willing to spend more despite the prices.”
