Venezuelans with expired passports have full access to the country

The director of the Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Immigration (Saime), Gustavo Vizcaíno, confirmed that Venezuelans with expired passports can enter the country without problems. They can even do so with just their ID card

The director of the Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Immigration (Saime), Gustavo Vizcaíno, denied information spread through social networks of an alleged impediment to Venezuelans who wanted to enter the country with an expired passport.

Vizcaíno pointed out that the prohibition of citizens with expired passports from entering the country is false. In fact, he confirmed that compatriots can enter Venezuela with only their identity card.

This was stated this Tuesday by the director of Saime in an interview with Unión Radio, where he stressed that the requirement for safe conduct “is a unilateral measure requested by some airlines to issue air tickets, but which is not endorsed by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

With his statements, Vizcaíno rendered invalid the information that circulated on the networks and generated confusion among citizens inside and outside the territory.
