Venezuela to create the National Poultry Export Council

The body will bring together all stakeholders in the sector to boost egg and chicken production, as well as coordinate their export

Venezuela aims to increase poultry production and boost its exports. In this regard, Francisco Tagliapietra, president of the National Poultry Federation (Fenavi), announced the creation of the National Poultry Export Council.

The sector seeks to recover historical egg and chicken production levels. The goal is to reach 16.5 million cases of eggs per year, after years of stagnation.

Tagliapietra stated in an interview with Unión Radio that the aim is to increase chicken meat production to 1.3 million tons per year.

He also clarified that egg prices will be subject to supply and demand, as well as the birds’ biological cycles. “If inventories accumulate, eggs must be released to the market, even at a lower price, to avoid disrupting production,” the leader pointed out.

The major challenge is maintaining the sector’s stability in a volatile economic context, as well as “strengthening the local industry and ensuring that Venezuela regains its leading role in international egg and chicken markets.”
