US considers banning the use of DeepSeek
Members of the US Congress have submitted a bill to ban the use of the Chinese AI DeepSeek due to cybersecurity risks in government entities
Although cybersecurity specialists point out that the Chinese AI DeepSeek is regulated by strict measures, members of the US Congress have presented a bill to prohibit its use in government officials’ devices.
Since its launch on January 11, the artificial intelligence chatbot led downloads outside China. This has led specialists to focus on possible security vulnerabilities. Adrianus Warmenhoven, cybersecurity specialist at NordVPN, recently said that “DeepSeek, being a Chinese AI startup, operates in a regulatory environment where government oversight of data is strict. This poses potential risks regarding data collection, storage and use.”
Considering that DeepSeek AI could endanger national security, members of the US Congress are pushing for a law to ban its use in government entities.
