TikTok will force acceptance of ad personalization

The social network TikTok will force all its users to accept the ad personalization function in their accounts in order to continue using them as of April 15.

Until now, users of the Chinese social network could decide whether or not they wanted to receive personalized ads through a function that could be activated in the settings to only see general ads from advertisers.

Now, TikTok began to send a notification to its users, discovered by the portal The Verge, that warns them that personalized ads will be mandatory for everyone from April 15.

“As of April 15, your settings will change and the ads you will see may begin to be based on what you do on TikTok”, highlighted the platform owned by the Chinese Bytedance.

The social network reminded users that they will still have “control” over the ads on the social network, and that they will still be able to choose whether they want them to be “more personalized” using data from TikTok advertising clients.
