TikTok will demand Trump’s veto

The social network confirmed that it will take a legal process against the measures adopted by the United States government

The social network of music microvideos TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, confirmed that it will carry out the necessary legal actions to legally challenge the recent executive order of President Donald Trump that threatens to ban it in the United States.

“To ensure that the rule of law is not implemented and that our company and users receive fair treatment, we have no choice but to challenge the executive order through the judicial system,” the multinational said.

The US president signed an executive order in early August prohibiting “any” transaction with the company that owns the mobile application TikTok. The order will take effect in mid-September, 45 days after its proclamation.

In this sense, the Chinese company maintains that, despite not agreeing at all with the concerns of the United States Administration, for almost a year it has tried to reach some kind of commitment in good faith “to offer a constructive solution.”

“What we found, instead, has been a lack of procedural guarantees, since the Administration did not pay attention to the facts and tried to interfere in the negotiations between private companies,” the company explained.

In a second executive order, signed on August 15, the president of the United States set a period of 90 days for ByteDance to end its operations in the country and dispose of the data

According to the White House, TikTok automatically captures “large amounts of information” from its users, including information about the Internet and other network activities, such as location and browsing data and search histories.
