TikTok, the app that shares the most user information

The Chinese platform is positioned ahead of Telegram, Twitter and YouTube as the one that exports the most user information

TikTok is the social network that shares data from its users with more third-party platforms, up to 13 different ones in total, above the industry average and other applications such as Telegram, Twitter and YouTube.

This follows from an investigation carried out by URL Genius in which a total of 200 applications for mobile devices have been analyzed to detect what data they share with third parties or with apps from the developer itself. For this they have used the function of Record the activity of the application added in iOS 15.2 by Apple.

Mobile applications contact an average of 15 domains, and about 80 % are third-party domains. Among the categories that share the most usage data are magazine and news applications, with 28 and 23 contacts respectively, of which 26 and 21 were with third parties.

The research has also focused on social applications such as social networks or messaging apps. For this, ten platforms were analyzed, in which the average number of contacts was six: 60 % from third parties, and 40% from internal domains.

TikTok appears as the social network that uses the most third-party contacts for its data, with 13, to which an internal domain of its developer must also be added. This places it ahead of Telegram (9), Twitter (6) and YouTube (4) in this section.
