TikTok launches customizable 3D avatars for videos
The TikTok social network announced the launch of a series of customizable 3D avatars with which the platform seeks to encourage users to record videos
TikTok announced the launch of “TikTok Avatars”, a series of customizable 3D avatars with which the social network intends to encourage its users to use them in recording videos.
According to the information provided by the platform, their purpose is “to encourage creativity, such as Effect House, Library and the option to extend the duration of your videos up to 10 minutes.” These 3D avatars are available in the ‘Effects’ section of the application, within the “Interactive category”.
After selecting the option, users have the possibility to “customize their avatars with a wide variety of skin tones, haircuts, accessories, makeup and piercings.”
TiKTok will continue to innovate
The platform’s series of 3D avatars can be used in two ways by users. One is to use “preconfigured” avatars. The second is to create them from scratch, for which it is necessary to “select the new button” and add different features: “mouth, nose and ear shapes, eye colors, eyebrows or beards”, since it only allows you to configure faces.
Once the avatar is created, they are integrated into the video, being superimposed on the “video image as if it were a filter” following the user’s gestures and movements during the recording.
The TikTok social network stressed that it will continue to “improve and innovate this experience” in order to make it “truly representative for all users” of the platform, which is why it will continue to adopt user comments to perfect the “interactive proposal.”
The opinions of the users will be worked on in the “Creator Diversity Collective” department, a committee made up of content creators from different origins, to ensure a more inclusive and representative experience
