Microsoft decided to say goodbye to the Office brand and bundle office applications into the new Microsoft 365 app, which will take on a new look and add new features.
The technology company announced the new Microsoft 365 application (different from the cloud platform with the same name), which “in the coming months” will replace services currently available under the Office name: Office.com, the Office mobile app and the Office app for Windows.
This name change, which includes a new icon, a new look and new features, will begin to materialize in November with Office.com, and will be completed in January with its arrival in the mobile and Windows applications.
The change will be automatic, as confirmed by the company on the page of the new app, and will incorporate new templates, new modules to discover tools or anchor the most used ones and new ways of organizing jobs with custom labels, among other new features.
For Microsoft, the new Microsoft 365 ‘app’ is “the starting point to experiment” with the tools it includes, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, while the Microsoft 365 subscription gives access to a cloud platform with more apps, more features, and more storage.
