The fintech has reached 18 Latin American countries

A report prepared by the IDB and Finnovista ensures that there has been a growth of 66% in a period of one year

A report prepared by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) said that at least 1,666 ventures related to financial technology (fintech) have been detected.

This figure reflects a growth of 66%, compared to the first measurement made by the IDB and Finnovista in 2017.

On the other hand, the information gathered highlighted that at least two out of three projects are in an advanced stage of development, as well as indicating that fintech has already been installed in at least 18 Latin American countries in the last year.

“Although five countries concentrate 86% of fintech companies in the region, ventures have been identified in each of the Latin American countries and a growing trend towards internationalization, which shows the opportunities that entrepreneurs perceive, but also the importance of continuing to strengthen dialogue and harmonization at the regional level, said Juan Ketterer, head of the IDB’s Connectivity, Market and Finance division.

This research also highlighted the role that women have played in fintech ventures in the last year, ensuring that at least 35% of these new companies have a woman as a founder in their ranks. It should be noted that the world average stands at 7%.
