Spotify users become hosts in group sessions
New feature allows multiple users to control the same playback
Spotify has introduced the new group session feature that allows multiple users to control the same playback. The function is already available, although only in the testing phase for paid subscribers.
Group sessions are a collaborative element Spotify had already unveiled in September 2019, and they allow users to become hosts of a session by sharing a QR code with guests, who must scan it to join.
Once inside a group session, all users can control the list and what is played at any time as well as add new songs, as reported by the music streaming service through its support page. It is possible to leave the session at any time.
The song playback queue is automatically updated on all participants’ devices and sessions end after an hour of inactivity, as reported by The Verge portal.
The new group sessions are available in beta from Monday and until now it is available in the mobile version of Spotify and for users of the service’s premium subscriptions.
