South Korea launches national coverage in 5G

The country is now the first to offer coverage throughout the entire territory through the 5G mobile Internet, marking a milestone in the global technological revolution

South Korea becomes the first country in the world to propose a national 5G coverage to facilitate telecommunications and offer efficient platforms to all its citizens.

With this launch today, the Asian nation gets a significant advantage over the rest of the world, offering the possibility of connection everywhere and at all times through the mobile Internet.

The facility extends from daily life to the operation of public services, remote medical assistance, autonomous vehicles and everything related to the smart city.

South Korea, a hyperconnected country, has important allies in this initiative. KT, SK Telecom and LG UPlus are the three operators that allow 5G coverage of the entire population, with a connection speed 20 times faster than 4G.

The Seoul government has given priority to the development and implementation of 5G technology in order to stimulate its economy. KT operator has indicated that the 5G “will be able to connect a million devices simultaneously in a square kilometer.” For its part, Global System for Mobile Communications indicates that it will be possible to generate $ 565,000 million in profits for the global economy in 2034.

It is important to note that South Korea has a total of 3,400 5G patents, which represents more than a third of the world total and places the country in second place in the industry.
