SEPE stops working due to cyberattack

The attack has led to the suspension of the service of the employment offices as well as today's management of Spanish body

The State Public Employment Service (SEPE in Spanish) in Spain has suffered a cyberattack, which caused the website and the electronic headquarters oSEPE to stop working this Tuesday morning.

The information was released in a publication through the VozPopuli medium and the suspension of the service has caused the employment offices to be unable to work, leading to suspend the activity and postpone today’s procedures.

The style of attack produced by ransomware, which has already affected several national organizations and companies in the past, compromises the security of computer systems. In these cases it is recommended to act immediately and shut down the systems.

After the incident, SEPE continues to work to solve the inconveniences caused by “studying the situation and working with computer services” and knowing in depth the damage caused by the attack.

According to SEPE sources, the computers of all the workers have been turned off and help has been requested from specialized centers, specifically the National Cryptological Center.
