Representatives of the government and the opposition of Venezuela meet in Paris
Jorge Rodríguez and Gerardo Blyde, representatives of the Venezuelan government for dialogue, attended this Friday a meeting promoted by the French president, Emmanuel Macron within the framework of the Forum for Peace, with the participation of the presidents of Colombia and Argentina
The main negotiators of the government of Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan opposition have shaken hands this Friday in Paris, in a Forum for Peace promoted by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and which has brought both parties together after months of distance.

The ambassador in Caracas, Romain Nadal, and the deputy Eleonore Caroit, who represents French expatriates in Latin America, have shared images of this first contact on their respective social networks, prior to an intense day of meetings in which Venezuela will have a special role.
On the part of the government, the delegation is headed by Jorge Rodríguez, from the National Assembly, while Gerardo Blyde is at the head of the opposition’s Unitary Platform. “France can play a key role in the negotiation process,” Caroit said on his Twitter account.

What is sought, they maintain from the Elysee, is “to create a dynamic for the resumption” of the dialogue process in Mexico, suspended since October 2021 and sponsored by the host country and Norway. This process obtained very limited results, focused mainly on the humanitarian situation in the country.
It is in this context, they say from the French Presidency, that we must see the greeting that took place on Monday during the COP27 in Egypt between Macron and Maduro, in which the French president summoned him to speak later, and the Venezuelan maintained that France “has to play a decisive role.”
