Passwords “12345” and “1111” are the most common

According to an investigation carried out by NordPass, it was determined that in certain regions of Europe these types of passwords are often used as favorites

The passwords ‘12345’ and ‘111111’ are some of the most widely used in certain regions of Europe, which places them among the most vulnerable and easy for cybercriminals to crack, taking no time at all.

The password manager NordPass published a list of the 200 most common passwords on the Internet. To do this, in collaboration with independent researchers specializing in cybersecurity incidents, they analyzed a 4TB database from 50 countries.

In the first place, NordPass reported that Russia is in the first position of the countries most affected by data leaks, followed by the Czech Republic, France, Germany and the United States.

In addition to studying which are the most common, the company determined the number of users who use them and the time it takes for cybercriminals to decrypt them.

In general terms, the most used worldwide are ‘123456’, ‘123456789’, ‘12345’, ‘qwerty’, ‘password’, ‘12345678’, ‘111111’, ‘123123’, ‘1234567890’ and ‘1234567’, which cybercriminals take less than a second to decipher.

On the contrary, in the last positions of the most used passwords, ‘qazxsw’, ‘456789’, ‘232323’, ‘999999999’, ‘qwerty12345’, ‘qwaszx’, ‘1234567891’, ‘456123, ‘444444’, ‘qq123456 stand out. ‘ and ‘xxx’ (with times between minus one and minus two seconds).
