Meta officially launched the Threads app

The company owned by Facebook released the application aimed at "sharing ideas and trends with text"

Instagram has launched Threads, its new microblogging application designed to “share ideas and trends with text”, with which it intends to become Twitter’s main competitor.

Meta’s social network has been working in recent months on a new platform designed with an objective very similar to that of Twitter, sharing experiences and opinions based on short text publications, as was revealed in the month of May.

Specifically, it is about Threads and, although a little earlier than expected, it is already available in more than a hundred countries for users with iOS and Android smartphones, as announced by the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, through a publication on this social network.

Thus, the creators of Threads define it as an application where “communities meet to discuss everything, from the topics that interest you today to what will be a trend tomorrow“, so that ideas, opinions and creativity can be shared through of text posts. Likewise, it allows users to follow and connect directly with their favorite creators, as well as with other users with whom they share tastes.

On the eve of the launch of Threads, some content creators were able to take part in an early access program to test how the app works, as reported by social media analyst and consultant Matt Navarra. In fact, some of the first users to become part of the ‘app’ have also been Meta executives such as the CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and the director of Instagram, Adam Mosseri.
