Venezuelan Martín Pérez accepted the $19.65 million qualifying offer from the Texas Rangers. The Creole pitcher recorded, perhaps, the best season of his career in the Major Leagues (MLB).
The left-handed starter went 12-8 with a 2.89 ERA after pitching 196 1/3 innings in 32 starts. In addition, he struck out 169 batters and managed a complete game by way of shutout.
The native of Guanare, Portuguesa state, won the pitcher of the month award for May and participated in the 2022 All-Star Game, which was played at Dodgers Stadium.
