Macron could recognize the Palestinian State in June
French President Emmanuel Macron hinted at the possibility of recognizing the Palestinian state in June during an upcoming meeting chaired by France and Saudi Arabia at UN Headquarters
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday, April 9, that he could recognize the Palestinian state in June during a meeting he will co-chair with Saudi Arabia at UN Headquarters in New York.
According to Macron, the decision could lead several countries in the region to recognize Israel. The French president argued: “We should move towards recognition, and we will make progress in the coming months,” in an interview with local network France 5.
He emphasized that sometime in June, together with Saudi Arabia, “at this conference, we will finalize this movement of mutual recognition by various parties.”
For Macron, the decision to recognize the Palestinian state will allow us to “fight against those who deny Israel’s right to exist.”
