Italy’s Banca Sella will allow clients to trade Bitcoin
Italy's second-argest bank, Banca Sella, announced that it is allowing Bitcoin trading to a select group of customers through the official Hype app
Italy’s second-largest bank, Banca Sella, announced that it is testing the buying and selling of Bitcoin on a select group of customers through its official app, Hype.
According to reports, the bank hopes that once the tests are completed, the service can be extended to all users, in the search to “adapt to new trends, which is especially notable, since the entity has been adopting a very conservative in recent years.”
The measure is being implemented through a Banca Sella alliance with the multi-signature cryptocurrency storage service Conio, of which the Italian bank is a shareholder.
At the moment, the bank has not issued an official statement. In any case, it is important to mention that last month “the banks Cassa Depositi e Prestiti SpA (CDP), and Intesa Sanpaolo, completed the issuance of digital bonds using blockchain rails, as indicated by the parties in a press release on Thursday.”
In the case of Banca Sella, this step towards Bitcoin trading perhaps seeks to position itself in the field of international banks that offer their clients to trade in cryptocurrencies. “All of this also responds to the growing interest in these assets, and the plans of financial institutions to group in one place everything that clients may be looking for.”
