Interactive Brokers will bet on the use of cryptocurrencies
The founder of the broker, Thomas Peterffy indicated that his company is working to have this option ready as soon as possible
The American trading company Interactive Brokers announced that in the coming months its users will count on the option to carry on transactions using cryptocurrencies.
Founder Thomas Peterffy spoke at the Piper Sandler Global Exchange & FinTech Conference about his company’s plans to fully enter this market.
“Customers are certainly asking for this and we hope to be ready to offer it to them by the end of the summer“, said the American businessman.
Interactive Brokers offers traders a wide variety of assets in addition to currencies, including stocks, options, futures, bonds and funds, according to its website. As of 2019, its equity value totaled nearly $ 8 billion.
The announcement coincides with the latest chapter in bitcoin’s evolution towards a mainstream asset class, courtesy of El Salvador’s pioneering legal currency movement.
