Instagram will have community chats of up to 250 members

The social network Instagram announced that it is working on the launch of community chats of up to 250 members, which will expand the possibility of publication of all participants

The social network Instagram will soon allow community chats of up to 250 members. The platform belonging to Meta, directed by Mark Zuckerberg, seeks to organize users with common interests into groups to share content.

Instagram is working on this new community chat function, where the groups will have “a similar operation to that currently offered by the streaming content platform Discord”.

According to the developer and expert in reverse engineering Alessandro Paluzzi through a screenshot, “Meta, owner of the platform, seeks to connect users with other people and share their interests with them”.

The community chats will allow the 250 members to publish. This is where it differs from the platform’s current broadcast channels, Instagram Live, through which content creators “maintain a channel just for their followers and share information in real time.”

These community chats will have moderation tools and administrators, as usual, will be authorized to delete messages or block users if necessary.

For the moment, the function is an internal prototype, according to a company spokesperson, which indicates that it is not being tested outside the company.
