According to the Forbes list of the world’s richest people, the top five countries are the United States, China, India, Germany, and Russia.
Great fortunes are concentrated in small territories. The United States tops the list, “with the largest number of billionaires, concentrating fifteen of the twenty richest people in the world, although territories in Europe and Asia also appear in the following positions.” Elon Musk is currently “the wealthiest man on the planet,” with a fortune of more than $817 billion. He is joined on the list of the richest people in the entertainment world, from rapper Dr. Dre to singer Taylor Swift.
China has the second-highest number of billionaires. The figure reaches 539 individuals, the richest being Zhang Yiming, co-founder of ByteDance, owner of TikTok.
India comes in third. “The total number of billionaires has grown slightly, from 205 to 229, as has their net worth, which has risen from $941 billion to $1 trillion.” Businessman Mukesh Ambani, CEO of Reliance Industries, holds the largest fortune, with $99.7 billion.
In Germany, the fourth country on the Forbes list, the richest man is Dieter Schwarz, owner of the Schwarz Group, “which operates the discount supermarket chains Lidl and Kaufland.”
Russia is the fifth-richest country in the world. There, the number of millionaires rose from 140 to 147, and their net worth increased from $580 billion to $649 billion. The list is topped by Alexei Mordashov, majority shareholder and chairman of Severstal, the country’s largest steel and mining conglomerate.
The list also includes other countries, such as Italy, Canada, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Taiwan, where businesspeople from various sectors have amassed great fortunes.
