Google devices will recognize non-verbal language

Google develops new technology so that the user can nod, walk or move their head without being detected by devices as an input

The technology giant Google is developing the new technology Sensor Fusion, which will aim to give users the ability to control Pixel devices with non-verbal language. In this way, people will be able to control their devices such as hearing aids or smart watches with a touch control.

Sensor Fusion technology will have the ability to capture movements on the skin, such as raising or lowering the volume near the headphones, just by sliding your finger. They will also be able to manipulate the smartwatch by simply touching the “wrist area and sliding it on the back of the hand”.

With this new technology, users will be able to nod, walk, move their head without being detected by devices as an input or login gesture.

Google’s skin interface

In 2020 Google applied to the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) for the patent for the device with non-verbal language and registered it under the name “Skin interface for portable devices”. The patent was approved last March 03.

With this invention, the company seeks to improve the function of the sensors that allow it to optimize the quality of the signal and users can affirm, transit or shake their heads without the sensors perceiving it as a signal, preventing the equipment from modifying its reproduction.
