Four-day workweek could reduce stress in workers

A six-month study in Germany conducted by the University of Münster and the 4 Day-Week Global Program on the four-day workweek concluded that it could have an impact on reducing stress in workers

Through a six-month trial conducted in Germany by the University of Münster and the 4 Day-Week Global Program, the effectiveness of reducing the workweek to four days was analyzed.

Of the participating companies, 39 % decided to implement the reduction of the workweek to four days, while 34 % will continue testing the program.

Although the four-day workweek was not proven to increase company profits, reduce sick leave or reduce the carbon footprint, there were positive results related to the physical and mental well-being of workers.

In this sense, it was confirmed that the workers subjected to the test reported less stress, slept approximately 38 minutes more each week and had the opportunity to exercise more. This results in their general well-being.

From the point of view of companies, this improvement could help reduce absences in the long term.
