Expired Venezuelan passports will be valid for 10 years in the United States

The United States agreed to recognize the 10-year extension of expired Venezuelan passports

The United States government announced that it will recognize the 10-year extension of expired Venezuelan passports.

The news was welcomed by the Venezuelan government. In this regard, representatives of Parliament spoke out, “led by Representative Dinorah Figuera in the presidency, and her colleagues Marianela Fernández and Auristela Vásquez, in the first and second vice-presidencies, respectively,” who thanked the US government for the decision.

They indicated: “We urge the United States government to publicize this decision, especially in official instances of assistance to Venezuelan migration.”

The decision was published by the State Department of the North American country through the official website of its Immigration and Citizenship Service.

In the statement they indicate that the decision is in accordance with the decree of the National Assembly of June 25, 2024, which indicates that “passports issued before the date of this decree remain valid for 10 years after the expiration date printed on passport or beyond the expiration date of the last passport extension (extension), whichever is later.”
