The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) has already assessed the proposal and classified it as “economically significant.”

With the acceptance for review, a 60-day public comment period begins. This would be followed by an executive order from President Donald Trump on August 7, 2025, which would “urge federal agencies to expand access to alternative assets, including crypto assets, in 401(k) plans.”

By the end of September last year, the country’s retirement market reached a record $48.1 trillion in financial assets. “Meanwhile, states like Indiana are advancing their own initiatives to include crypto assets.”

Specifically, the state passed a law “that will require certain state plans to offer a cryptocurrency investment option by July 1, 2027. This would allow its citizens to include Bitcoin and other digital assets in their retirement portfolios for the first time.”

Although the U.S. government maintains a cautious stance regarding the use of cryptocurrencies in the retirement sector, it is currently showing greater openness, betting on positive results.

It is called Trump and although at first it generated mistrust due to fear of a scam, in view of the proximity of the president’s inauguration, the President himself clarified it through his account on Truth Social and X.

The price of Trump’s meme cryptocurrency increased by billions of dollars in a few hours, although it is necessary to remember that this type of asset has no economic or transactional utility “and is often considered a purely speculative asset.”

In any case, it is more of an instrument to strengthen the confidence of the American people in the president who is assuming the presidency today. In this regard, it was said: “This Trump meme celebrates a leader who never gives up, no matter the situation,” as read on the official website of the project, referring to “the failed assassination attempt on the Republican candidate last July.”

To dispel fears about a possible scam, announcements were published on the official accounts of the Republican, who has already used the firm behind the project, CIC Digital LLC, to sell NFTs.

In the midst of the rapid advance in the use of artificial intelligence, fears, risks and conflicts related to veracity and transparency arise. So the call from the White House is considered relevant.

Fortunately, these companies “committed to work in particular on AI-powered content marking systems in order to reduce the risks of fraud and misinformation.”

The risks are increased by the use of generative AI, which results in highly realistic creations, difficult to differentiate from real elements, such as images or messages widely disseminated.

In this sense, the companies involved have also committed to “test their software internally and externally before launch, invest in cybersecurity and share relevant information about their tools with authorities and researchers, including possible failures.”

Another government requirement that they must comply with is the development of reliable techniques that allow users to know “when the content has been generated by AI, such as a watermark system,” according to an official statement.

Trump received last week what is already his second battery of charges, this time federal, for storing classified information in his Florida mansion. The tycoon had already been charged at the end of March for the bribe given to a former actress on the eve of the 2016 elections in exchange for her keeping silent about an alleged ‘affair’.

The Constitution does not mark the absence of a criminal record among the few criteria established to be president, since it only stipulates that the candidate must be a citizen by birth, older than 35 years and have lived at least 14 in the United States. The Twenty-second Amendment does state that a person who has already served two terms cannot be president.

And there is little room to add new requirements, as constitutional experts point out to ABC News, recalling that there are already Supreme Court rulings that stipulate that Congress cannot add new requirements to occupy the highest political office in the North American country.

Technically, Trump could be a candidate even from jail, a circumstance that will not be unprecedented. During the 1920 presidential election, Eugene Debs, a candidate for the Socialist Party, was in jail for opposing World War I and won 3 percent of the vote.

Thus, a hypothetical conviction or the adoption of precautionary measures against Trump, the favorite for now in the Republican Party primaries, would only limit his ability to campaign or even vote for himself, since the right to vote is restricted to convicted persons. for felonies or serving sentences vary by state.

The tycoon has already made it clear that he does not plan to withdraw from the still budding race in the face of what he continues to consider a “witch hunt” by his political rivals, despite the fact that the crimes imputed to him by the stored documents may entail a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

During a press conference at the Summit of the Group of Seven (G7), Biden described the conditions proposed by the Republicans as “unacceptable”.

Biden made it clear that he would not accept a deal that would protect estate tax fraudsters and cryptocurrency traders while putting food assistance for nearly a million Americans at risk. He referred to the purported protections for cryptocurrency traders in relation to harvesting tax losses.

Cryptocurrency tax loss harvesting is a strategy that investors use to reduce their overall tax liability. It consists of selling a cryptocurrency at a loss to offset the crypto gains. To claim a loss, the assets must be sold, and the proceeds must be used to purchase a similar asset within 30 days before or after the sale. This practice is also available for stocks and other assets.

In addition to the tax loss harvest restriction for cryptocurrencies, the White House presented Republicans with a similar proposal that prohibits investors from deferring taxes on real estate swaps. These changes could generate approximately $40 billion in tax revenue for the US government.

The White House published its latest President’s Economic Report, which analyzes the current situation of cryptocurrencies.

In the report, it is argued that cryptocurrencies do not live up to their initial promise and pose risks to consumers and the US financial system.

The White House also explains that, until now, cryptocurrencies have not provided any fundamental value, since they do not serve as an effective store of value or as a means of payment. Furthermore, the report highlights the need for regulation to protect consumers and the financial system from panics, crashes and fraud related to crypto assets.

On the other hand, it also addresses other topics such as blockchain technology, decentralized finance (DeFi), cryptocurrency mining, stablecoins and central bank digital currencies (CBDC), and argues in favor of the Reserve’s new instant payment system Federal (FedNow) as an alternative to the circulation of digital money.

While acknowledging that some crypto assets appear to be here to stay, the report argues that they continue to cause risks for financial markets, investors, and consumers.
