The meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, originally planned for March, will now take place in Beijing on May 14 and 15. The two leaders will discuss key issues such as trade, technology, security, and the Middle East conflict.

The two leaders met last October in South Korea. According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, “the new date coincides with estimates that the Iran war could end within four to six weeks, although the Chinese government has called for an immediate cessation of attacks and warned that the conflict could spiral out of control.”

Another topic the leaders will discuss is “coordinating positions regarding the war in Ukraine, in an international context marked by geopolitical tensions and trade disputes.”

The US president considered the meeting “momentous” and indicated that he will later receive Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, at the White House.

WhatsApp will launch accounts for pre-teens supervised by parents or guardians in the United States, in order to limit their calling and messaging experience for their safety.

The accounts for children under 13 on WhatsApp, which will be implemented globally in the coming months, will be supervised thanks to a new strict application setting and parental controls.

The platform has stated that “these accounts must be created and actively managed by parents or guardians and must remain linked to their own WhatsApp account, a messaging app owned by Meta. Parents will need the phone they purchased for their family member and their own device, side by side, to link their accounts.”

Once this step is completed, the parent or guardian will be able to “control the account and decide who can communicate with it and which groups it can join. These adults can also review message requests from unknown contacts and manage the account’s privacy settings.”

Security measures include end-to-end encryption of conversations. Furthermore, the new parental controls and settings are protected by a parental PIN on the managed device.

The UN will celebrate International Women’s Day this Monday, March 9, and will focus on “equality before the law, deliberately coinciding with the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) (March 9–19).”

This intergovernmental forum will serve as a meeting point for representatives of Member States, United Nations entities, and civil society to negotiate conclusions on the theme of “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers.”

Once the foreign currency has been allocated, the client can use it immediately by linking their Digital Foreign Currency Account (USD) to any of their Bancamiga Debit Cards or by reloading their Prepaid Foreign Currency Card to make purchases, travel, or pay for services both within and outside the country. The allocation to the USD Digital Foreign Currency Account is done through Bancamiga Online or Bancamiga Suite.

Regarding the role of banks before cryptocurrencies, he stated: “The banking sector is a crucial ally. It acts as a ‘railway’ or gateway for cash-in and cash-out transactions. Although banking institutions cannot perform direct exchanges, they allow exchange houses to carry out instant transactions.”

Garrido noted that in Venezuela, the trading of digital assets has a clear legal framework, recalling that the National Superintendency of Cryptoassets and Related Activities (Sunacrip in Spanish) has been the entity responsible for regulating the sector since 2023. “The legality of using cryptocurrencies is established in the 2019 Constituent Decree, and BA VEN-NIF 12 regulates the accounting records of digital assets,” he added.

During the session, experts from Venemergencia, the Venemergencia Foundation, and sports specialists addressed key topics such as musculoskeletal injuries, heat-related illnesses and dehydration, basic life support, emergency medical management in marathons, and the strategic placement of resources on race day, all aligned with international standards for care at large-scale sporting events.

Medical management and training for the marathon

One of the central themes of the day was the presentation “Emergency Management System during the CAF Marathon,” given by Dr. Luis Enrique Velázquez, Founding Partner and Operations Director of Venemergencia. During his presentation, he explained the technical and operational challenges involved in providing medical coverage for an event of this magnitude and highlighted that, in previous editions, up to 30 % of runners required some type of care, including highly complex emergencies such as cardiac arrest and heatstroke.

Dr. Velázquez also emphasized that the medical operation is designed according to IAAF international standards, which allows for the precise definition of the number of professionals, units, points, and care stations needed. In this context, he explained the integrated response system implemented by Venemergencia, based on four fundamental pillars: human resources, material resources, care units, and communications, and stressed the importance of coordinated work among the institutions involved.

As part of this comprehensive deployment, all runners in the 2026 CAF Marathon will have Mercantil insurance, granting them access to the Urgent Care network of emergency rooms. In cases where the required care exceeds the emergency level, participants will be immediately referred to partner clinics, ensuring continuity of timely and specialized medical attention.

Specialized training for runner care

From an educational perspective, the course addressed the main medical situations associated with long-distance running. Carlos Lobo Oropeza explained the most common injuries in runners and the role of volunteers in identifying warning signs, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing athlete safety.

Likewise, Christopher De Faria, a surgeon and member of the Venemergencia Foundation, reinforced knowledge in Basic Life Support, including the early recognition of cardiac arrest and the correct use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Finally, Dr. Ricardo Javornik addressed heat-induced thermal stress injuries, thermoregulation, hydration, and care protocols for this type of emergency.

A comprehensive operation for the safety of all runners

The medical operation for the 2026 CAF Marathon will be made possible through the coordinated efforts of Venemergencia, CAF, Mercantil Seguros, and various security and response agencies, including the Fire Department, Civil Protection, Salud Chacao, Ven 911, paramedics from Vías Rápidas, and Ángeles de la Autopista (Highway Angels), forming a comprehensive care system to respond effectively to any eventuality.
