The Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela ratified this Thursday, August 22, the victory of Nicolás Maduro in the presidential elections held on July 28, according to data provided by the CNE.

The TSJ indicated after the expert opinion of the voting records: “This Electoral Chamber validates the results of the presidential election of the 28th issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE).”

Venezuelans vote today, Sunday, July 28, to elect a new president. The provisions of the National Electoral Council for the installation of the centers arranged for this event have been complied with, under vigilance of the Plan República.

The voting centers have been open since the early hours of this Sunday to allow citizens to vote. Voters are urged to bring a supply of drinking water and some snacks, a folding chair, and an umbrella.

The only document necessary to exercise the right to vote is the laminated identity card, current or expired. Once they are verified on the lists arranged within the assigned voting center, in addition to lining up, the next thing is to go to the corresponding table, hand over the ID card, wait for their information to appear on the screen and then mark the fingerprint and proceed to vote.

Pregnant women, elderly people or people with disabilities normally have preferential access.

The UN confirmed this Tuesday the acceptance of the invitation made in recent days by the National Electoral Council of Venezuela, a few days before the presidential elections.

The BRICS+ bloc was invited to the presidential electoral process in Venezuela on July 28, through a proposal to Russia by the Vice Minister for Latin America, Rander Peña.

During the Central Plenary of the International Forum of Political Parties of the BRICS+ Countries, held in Vladivostok, Russia, the Venezuelan official made the invitation to the July 28 elections. Peña expressed: “We propose to the presidency of the BRICS+ countries (Russia) that they can accompany the elections on July 28, extending to all the political parties that make up the bloc.”

During the forum, he emphasized the group’s trust in the Venezuelan people, “just as it is recognizing the policies of President Nicolás Maduro.”

He highlighted the South American country’s interest in being part of the BRICS+, a bloc that plays a crucial role on the global stage, particularly in the process of de-dollarization of economies.

According to the specialist, the sectors of the economy that will benefit from the increase in public spending will be those related to mass consumption. “In a country in which the majority of the population does not cover its basic needs, the food, medicine and personal care sector will be the main beneficiaries of greater purchasing power.”

Increase of exchange rate

An increase in public spending has its cost. The injection of money into the economy entails upward pressure on prices as well as the exchange rate. Oliveros recommend staying attentive to the fluctuation in the price of the official dollar in the quarter prior to the elections. On the other hand, it recognizes the government’s ability to “intervene in the exchange market and prevent the aggressive slide of the exchange rate.”

Uncertainty caused by sanctions on the country

The director of Ecoanalítica points out that the sanctions maintain uncertainty in the population. In April, the United States is expected to restore economic sanctions on PDVSA and Venezuela, with a strong impact on the economy.

Bancamiga, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), keeps the application process open for the second cohort of En Marcha Digital, a free online accompaniment methodology to help small businesses adapt to a changing environment, innovating in their business model and boosting their positioning in digital media.

The 10-week program is aimed at people who have small production units from different sectors (manufacturing, trade or services) and who have been operating for at least one year.

En Marcha Digital provides the participants with accompaniment and specialized technical assistance by UNDP-certified consultants, virtual training from home or workplace, access to support materials and a training certificate at the end of the program.

During the training process, the participants focus on driving results and changes in their businesses in the short term, through the definition of strategies and action plans, the management of tools for their digital transformation and the generation of skills to grow their company.

As in the first cohort, the space is limited to 40 participants, who will be selected by a technical team and will be notified in a timely manner.

People interested in participating should take into account that it is essential to have access to the Internet and electronic equipment (smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop), to have availability of at least two hours a week for training processes and consultancies, as well as the real intention to innovate in their business and achieve business adaptation to new technologies.

The application process is simple, all you have to do is fill in the information requested in the form available on the website www.bancamiga.com, which will be open until this Friday, July 28.

Proven success hand in hand with UNDP and Bancamiga

As a socially responsible company, Bancamiga carries out various training programs to strengthen the business skills of Venezuelans. Among these initiatives is En Marcha Digital, in alliance with UNDP in Venezuela, honoring the memorandum of understanding signed between both organizations, whose objective is mutual cooperation to strengthen training initiatives, technical assistance and advice for entrepreneurs and small businessmen in the country.

The first cohort of En Marcha Digital, sponsored by Bancamiga, was carried out successfully between the months of February and April of this year. During this time, 41 participants from 12 states of the country had access and enjoyed the benefits of the program.

The small entrepreneurs who completed the training process experienced the monthly increase in sales and digital maturity of their businesses, established biosafety protocols, as well as gender equality policies and good environmental practices, defined their customer segment and determined their cost structure, as well as sales plans, among other aspects.

Soon, Bancamiga and UNDP in Venezuela will announce the launch of a second business development program, called Ruta del Emprendimiento.
