The event will bring together producers from all over the country, as well as representatives of institutions, companies, investors, and the public to showcase the present and future of the Venezuelan agri-food sector.

During the Expo, the country’s productive, technological, and commercial advancements will be showcased, integrating both the agricultural and livestock sectors—fundamental pillars of economic development and food security.

In the livestock sector, more than a thousand animals of the bovine, buffalo, caprine, and ovine species will be present. The agricultural sector will also be featured, highlighting the production of strategic crops, innovation in cultivation, and the strengthening of the production chain.

Attendees will be able to enjoy an interactive experience with simulations of the production process and traceability of agri-food products, allowing them to understand, in a didactic way, the journey from the field to the final consumer, reinforcing confidence in national production.

Of course, there will be business meetings, talks, gastronomy, and entertainment, with “llanera” music as a highlight, in addition to cultural presentations, traditional shows, and live concerts.

Furthermore, his advocacy for the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, adopted in 2021 as legal tender, has been crucial to the country’s economic progress.
The economist pointed out that the South American country possesses almost all the minerals on the periodic table; These sectors have already been identified, as well as the number of deposits in the territory, which are strategic for the nation’s development.

The official indicated that this figure represents positive progress for the productive sector, in addition to strengthening international investment and the territorial development plan.

Meléndez highlighted that a total of 112 tons of fish products, primarily octopus, were exported from La Guaira state to European markets, “as part of the boost to the non-oil economy being developed in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of the state.”

The shipment was processed at a fish processing plant located in the Venezuelan coastal state, “one of the strategic projects linked to food sovereignty and with an export focus. The specific destinations are being kept confidential to protect international trade agreements and investors.”

The sole authority of the SEZ explained that the fish export is part of a set of nine development projects aimed at strengthening national production, attracting foreign investment, and generating foreign exchange.

“Among these initiatives, the construction of the wheat mill in Catia La Mar also stands out, as well as the tourism projects under development, such as the Camurimar and Bahía Sunset hotels in the Caraballeda parish, which aim to enhance the state’s recreational and economic profile,” Meléndez noted.

Likewise, the operational forests and objectives for this year were analyzed; “hiring plans and performance indicators, with the purpose of complying with strategic actions towards achieving objectives.”

The executive vice president of PDVSA, Héctor Obregón, also participated in this meeting; the vice president of Gas and president of Pdvsa Gas, Luis González; the vice minister of Gas and director of Offshore, Paula Henao; and the vice president of Pdvsa Gas, director of Processing, David Molina Ortiz; and other members of the Board of Directors of Petróleos de Venezuela S.A.
Venezuela’s proven gas reserves amount to 195 trillion cubic feet. This figure places the South American nation in ninth place worldwide.

According to Arnaldo Figueredo, executive director of the Venezuelan Aquaculture Society, the country currently has more than 19,000 hectares of shrimp ponds, distributed among some 700 farms.

“The farms have been able to survive and grow despite the economic difficulties, they belong to just over a dozen private companies,” allowing the export of around 95% of their production.

According to Figueredo, production has become more intensive, with farms growing between 50,000 and 300,000 shrimp per hectare. “Meanwhile, the time needed for specimens to reach maturity has been reduced. Before, the fattening cycle was longer, between four and five months, but now, to try to speed up production and detect any problems, a shorter cycle is used: A pre-breeding cycle and another fattening cycle, which usually last two and a half months each,” he explained.

According to data from 2023, shrimp achieved the sixth-largest export volume of Venezuelan commodities by value, which represented USD 214 million.

Recognition granted to Venezuelan shrimp farms

It is worth mentioning that eleven Venezuelan shrimp companies have obtained certification from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), which is one of the main global organizations in the sector. The certification they grant is based on the evaluation of companies taking into account aspects such as “the well-being of workers, community involvement, resource efficiency and environmental responsibility.”

In this sense, marine biologist Robert Tenia, head of production between 2018 and 2022 at Inmarlaca, the largest shrimp farm in the country, received four visits from certifiers. “They checked the working conditions, where the workers slept, what the dining rooms were like, the state of the surrounding mangroves, the water replacement filters and that there were no escapes of animals from the pools to natural areas.”

These training activities, organized with the support of public and private organizations, seek to strengthen the capabilities of microentrepreneurs and entrepreneurs, ratifying the bank’s social responsibility policy, established by the president of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal, Carmelo De Grazia, with the purpose of contributing to the economic development of the country.

At both meetings, Bancamiga’s Director of Social Responsibility, Milagro González, welcomed the participants, who were then able to listen to lectures by experts such as Mauricio Parilli, director of Aprendo y Emprendo, who spoke about the maturation and growth of ventures towards sustainability. The innovation coach, Luis Moreno, explained how knowing your customers allows you to increase business development.

Oskayda Alvarado, Entrepreneurship Manager at Bancamiga, presented the financing opportunities and the portfolio of products and services for small entrepreneurs. Likewise, on each day, there were talks dedicated to providing marketing keys and digital channels to boost sales.

Training from Petare to refine the microenterprise

One of the training sessions was held at the César Rengifo Theater, where about 250 Emprender Juntos participants gathered, who exceeded the capacity of this space located in the Historic Center of Petare, said Yoana Díaz Tovar, coordinator of this platform in the Sucre municipality of Miranda state.

“The expectations of this meeting are broad, strengthened by the private bank, which has taken us into account and is making firm alliances with entrepreneurs,” he celebrated.

The representative to the National Assembly for the state of Miranda, Gabriela Chacón, assured that the forum for entrepreneurs “is a luxury, because not all private banks have the intention or insistence to share the joint responsibility of promoting entrepreneurship.”

Bancamiga products and services

At the César Rengifo Theater, the forum participants benefited from an account opening operation to obtain the Mastercard Debit Card, the acquisition of Bancamiga Points of Sale and advice on the services that the bank offers to small business owners.

“Bancamiga is strengthening new entrepreneurs to get ahead in this economic situation. With this help, we can move forward with a business. The attention has been very good. We are very grateful for this opportunity that they give people to express themselves with their knowledge, put it to the test and take advantage of it, and no longer be dependent for having their own work alternative,” said Luis Noriega, gastronomic entrepreneur.

Dayana Ortega, who sells Creole chocolates and sweets, attended the forum to “take advantage of the Bancamiga event to open accounts and acquire products such as points of sale, with the full intention of strengthening our businesses and helping the people to continue undertaking, continue creating and continue believing in our country.”

Entrepreneur movement

The second training day for Bancamiga entrepreneurs took place in the Auditorium of the National Pipeline Institute, in Chuao, which brought together more than 100 representatives of the Manuelita Sáenz Women’s Movement and the Great Transportation Mission.

Eliana Salazar, president of the Manuelita Sáenz Women’s Movement, thanked the organized entrepreneurs for their support, through training “to nourish us, grow and transform us.” Likewise, he described the training day as an example of “integration” of public institutions and private companies.

The forum “has strengthened me a lot, because I had no knowledge in several subjects. This is nourishing me to consolidate my entrepreneurship and formalize it. It is very important to study to undertake. It is very important that the private banking sector supports us,” said Lenis Llamoza, entrepreneur in the gastronomic field.

“This day has been excellent, with a good team of trainers with a lot of information. I took all the tools with me, I didn’t know many points,” said Mary Moreno, who is dedicated to the production and marketing of Greek yogurt.

Mecelenia Ortiz, Training Coordinator of the Manuelita Sáenz Women’s Movement, said that the training activity represents “an important motivation, because the majority of the participants have already worked on their entrepreneurship ideas, they just require tools, knowledge so that they can elevate their production.”

The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, had anticipated through a press release posted on her Twitter account, that Venezuela and Colombia established a reciprocal investment protection agreement, which would be signed in due course, to then formulate the required procedures. by both nations.

In the statement released by the Executive Vice President, it was noted that the establishment of this negotiation was advanced and also the revision of the Partial Scope Agreement number 28. “This agreement has no precedents in the bilateral relationship and seeks to generate greater legal security for the reciprocal investments in all the productive sectors of both economies”, outlined the document.

The verification of Partial Agreement No. 28 has not been reviewed since 2012, the date it entered into force. “This agreement regulates the bilateral trade of goods and addresses aspects such as dispute resolution, among others.”

The meeting where the agreement was signed took place at the Miraflores Palace in the city of Caracas. On behalf of Colombia, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, Darío Germán Umaña, was present, who described this fact as a “historical milestone”.

“It is a historical milestone, and what we are doing (…) is an example for Latin America. It is a symbol of integration, of service, of creating (…) complementarity, for development,” emphasized Umaña, in statements broadcast by the State channel.
