Costa Rica has the largest photovoltaic solar energy park

The Central American country recently inaugurated the largest photovoltaic solar power generation park to benefit more than 5,000 families in the northern zone

The president of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, inaugurated on Saturday the largest installation for the generation of solar photovoltaic energy through which they plan to bring the service to more than 5,000 families in the northern part of the country.

The structure, located in Buenos Aires of San Carlos north of the province of Alajuela and called Cooperative Solar Park, where they were installed “19,000 solar energy collector devices in an area of ​​11.2 hectares of land that will produce 5 megawatts.”

The authorities of the Central American country are betting that the solar park will help reduce the use of fossil fuels, in addition to providing electricity to remote populations during the dry season with quality and in a continuoues squeme.

“The Cooperative Solar Park will be an important step to reach the goal of 2050. Photovoltaic energy will be essential to electrify transportation and abandon hydrocarbons,” said the president of Costa Rica during the event.

The objectives also include promoting sustainable development, strengthening the decarbonisation plan of the economy, as well as initiating new generation projects from renewable sources.
