Coinbase will officially operate in the Netherlands

The cryptocurrency exchange received the necessary authorization to carry out operations within the Netherlands

This week, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase received final authorization to conduct operations within the Netherlands.

The registry of the De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), the main institution of the European country, delivered this Thursday the approval to the company based in the United States.

Regulatory approval allows the exchange to offer its retail and institutional cryptocurrency products in the Netherlands. Coinbase is one of the major international exchanges approved by the Dutch central bank to operate crypto services alongside small local crypto businesses.

In an official statement, the US company assured that “Coinbase’s cryptocurrency services are not subject to the prudential supervision of the DNB, so there is no specific protection for the financial consumer.”
