ChatGPT announces new personal finance management feature

A new ChatGPT feature connecting to bank accounts and helping manage personal finances is in beta testing with select users in the United States

OpenAI announced the beta testing phase with a group of users in the United States of a new ChatGPT feature that will allow customers to link their bank accounts and cards to receive recommendations on saving, investing, and payments.

This personal finance management tool will facilitate personalized assistance in these areas.

The move was made considering the number of people who consult ChatGPT monthly about budgets, investments, and other financial topics. Hence, the idea of ​​“moving towards deeper integration between the chatbot and users’ personal finances.”

The beta testing group consists of Pro plan users in the United States. “As OpenAI detailed in a statement published on its official blog, the tool works using GPT-5.5 and leverages the model’s ability to analyze complex and contextualized questions.”

Linking bank accounts and cards via ChatGPT will allow customers to access details about balances, transactions, investments, and debts. Furthermore, they will be able to “share savings goals or loan repayment plans to receive recommendations tailored to their financial objectives.”

It is important to note that OpenAI emphasized that the shared banking information will be treated as confidential. It also clarified that the chatbot will not have access to full account numbers nor will it be able to make transactions, transfers, or modifications within them.
