Caracas celebrates the VI Central American and Caribbean School Sports Games

The city of Caracas is the venue for the VI Central American and Caribbean School Sports Games that culminate on November 30. 2,000 athletes, between 15 and 17 years old, participate in twelve different disciplines

The VI Central American and Caribbean School Sports Games have been taking place in Caracas, Venezuela, since November 24, with the participation of 2,000 athletes from the region in disciplines such as swimming, table tennis, volleyball, boxing, taekwondo, basketball, karate, athletics, chess and weightlifting.

The event, which ends this Thursday, November 30, was inaugurated by the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, in the Parque Naciones Unidas in the capital city.

Some 2,000 athletes, between 15 and 17 years old, from Belize, Bonaire, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia and Venezuela, compete in different disciplines, showing their abilities and talents.

Vice President Rodríguez expressed during the inauguration: “Young people who are today in these sixth Central American and Caribbean School Sports Games, you are the seedbed of what will be the future of sport, of what will also be the Olympic dream of 2028. I want, in the name of President Nicolás Maduro, to declare the games inaugurated.”

The Minister of Sports, Mervin Maldonado, praised the participants, and highlighted that the young people, high school students, represent the present and future of sports in the region.

His counterpart from Panama, Luis Denis Arce, expressed words of congratulations to the South American country for managing to host these games and added: “Today it becomes a reality that Venezuela will host these games, and we are sure that they will be a great success for everyone.” ”.
