Biden described his meeting with Putin as positive

The US president held a meeting with his Russian counterpart, in which they sought to promote cooperation between the two countries

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, described as “productive” the meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in which he called to promote cooperation between the two countries in the face of the conflict.

At a press conference, Biden explained that during the meeting he had told Putin that his Administration’s agenda “is not against Russia”, but to defend “the American people.” In addition, he added that after the summit he considers that “there is a genuine prospect of significantly improving” bilateral relations.

The coming months, therefore, will be a “test” to see if this week’s meeting served to bring positions closer together, while the head of the White House declared that “the tone of the meeting has been very productive and positive,” a despite the fact that there are some points “on which we did not agree”, which, however, have not produced tension between the two.

Regarding the importance of this face-to-face meeting, the US president assured that it was necessary to meet in person with his counterpart so that “there could be no errors or misrepresentations about what was being communicated.”
