Apple will penalize developers who distribute cloned apps

The technological Apple updated its terms and conditions of use for the App Store, with penalties for those who distribute cloned applications under threat of expulsion from its program

Apple has updated the terms and conditions for use of the App Store and has warned developers who distribute cloned apps that this activity could result in removal from the Apple Developer Program.

Also known as the Developer Program, individuals and organizations are equipped with everything they need to develop their applications and be able to distribute them in the official store for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and iMessage.

To join it, these users must formally register for this application development program for Apple platforms and accept its license agreement, in order to comply with the regulations it establishes for its use.

The company has announced the updated conditions of the App Store, which adds new obligations for developers and warns that those who distribute fake or cloned applications could expose themselves to their expulsion from the Apple Developer Program.

“Submitting apps that impersonate other apps or services is considered a violation of the Developer Code of Conduct and may result in removal from the Apple Developer Program,” these new usage guidelines can be read.

Another of the annotations that this update of the App Store introduces is the obligation of these creators to introduce an option that allows users to report any inappropriate advertisement.

Likewise, Apple has insisted that applications that host or contain extensions must include some functionality, such as configuration interfaces or help screens, “where possible.” In addition, Safari extensions must be running on the current version of Safari on the applicable Apple operating system.
