Amount of crypto users increased from 432 to 580 million in 2023

During the year 2023, there was a considerable increase in cryptocurrency users, going from 432 to 580 million people, which represents an increase of 34 %

The economic reality of each country, in addition to events associated with cryptocurrencies, led to an increase in the use of these currencies, reflected by 34 %. It is estimated that the crypto user base will increase from 432 to 580 million people in 2023.

This has been demonstrated by a report published by the Crypto.com exchange, which shows the number of cryptocurrency users at the end of last year. As for the most used digital currencies, it was concluded that they were Bitcoin, with 296 million holders, and Ethereum, with 124 million people.

Among the factors that may have influenced this increase in the adoption and use of cryptocurrencies, the exchange lists “from macroeconomic aspects”, where it points to “the economic uncertainty that shook many countries hand in hand with the adjustments of the central banks ”, to the ongoing wars and “the post-pandemic consequences.”

It is important to highlight the influence of the decisions of the SEC and the FED in the United States on the increase in the holding of cryptocurrencies by citizens.

According to the Crypto.com publication, “in terms of Bitcoin adoption, the narrative mainly revolved around the possible approval of spot ETFs in the US market, coupled with the introduction of the Ordinals protocol and the arrival of another type of assets to the network of the main digital currency.”

In reference to Ethereum, “the study highlights the Shanghai upgrade and the possibility of withdrawing ETH funds provided as collateral to operate as a validator of the network.

Crypto.com’s projections for 2024 are aimed at a positive outlook for the cryptocurrency market thanks to the repercussions of various events around the world, as well as a new halving of the bitcoin network and the increase in investors.
