Amazon is hiring engineers to power its search engine

The online shopping company has published several job offers, in order to improve its search engine with artificial intelligence

According to job postings uncovered by Bloomberg, Amazon intends to reinvent its current search feature. In an offer for a “Senior Technical Director of Programs,” the company mentions its AI-first initiative to restructure and reinvent the way they search using deep learning techniques at scale. The position requires at least seven years of experience working with engineering teams and offers annual compensation between $119,000 and $23,400.

Another job posting for a “SDE Sr., Machine Learning (ML), Amazon Search” provides more details on the initiative. It is mentioned that it will be a once-in-a-generation transformation for the search function, and Amazon intends to offer it to customers immediately.

The new search feature will provide an interactive conversational experience that will help users find answers to product questions, compare, receive personalized recommendations and much more, making it easy to find the perfect product for your needs. The annual salary for this position ranges from $134,500 to $261,500.

These job postings clearly indicate that Amazon is planning significant changes to its search function. Additionally, Amazon has recently introduced its own AI models called “Bedrock”, which allow customers to create models similar to ChatGPT.
