Aeromexico will continue with the dismissals

Aeromexico reported that it will make more layoffs, eliminate some positions and relocate others after stating that it will eliminate nine routes and withdraw five aircraft from its fleet

The Mexican airline states that the objectives that have been set require making difficult decisions for both the people and the organization, since they must adjust the budget, eliminate some positions and relocate others.

The Trade Union Association of Aviation Surcharges (ASSA) issued a circular in which they requested a meeting as an urgent measure to know the scope of the adjustments and the possible implications.

The company has been laying off staff for at least a month and the strongest adjustment is expected to arrive in December on the instructions of its partner, Delta Airlines. Aeromexico has approximately 17 thousand employees.

Aeromexico reacts like this after the announcement made by Andrés Manuel López Obrador to cancel the New Mexico International Airport (NAIM) that limits its growth and has caused major stock market crashes since the approval of the new Santa Lucia Airport .

The cancellation of the construction of the new Mexico City international airport in Texcoco generated uncertainty and stopped investments in all areas of the Mexican economy.
