Tareck El Aissami is the new Minister of Oil

The official document expresses the appointment of Asdrúbal Chávez as president of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA)

This Monday the new position of Tareck El Assami as Oil Ministers was announced by the National Executive. Now he becomes the successor of Manuel Quevedo, while Asdrúbal Chávez will remain in the Directorate of the state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).

The presidential order issued this Monday, April 27, in Official Gazette number 6,531, according to Decree No. 4,190, expresses this designation and also reports the “suppression” of the Refining and Petrochemical Office, whose powers will be transferred to the competent Vice-Ministries of Petroleum.

For its part, Venezuela has been taking measures regarding the strengthening of the oil sector. In this sense, the president appointed a plenipotentiary commission, called “Alí Rodríguez Araque”, on February 19.

At the moment, this commission was chaired by Tareck El Assami as vice president of the Economic Area, as well as chemical engineer Asdrúbal Chávez, who held the position of president of the Venezuelan oil subsidiary in the US, Citgo.

These changes are expected to contribute to the strengthening of crude oil in Venezuela and thus effectively recover the price of the basic basket, which closed last week at 70.62 yuan, which is equivalent to $ 9.98.
