YouTube will track voices and faces generated by AI

A new technology for the detection of voices and images generated by artificial intelligence will be applied by YouTube, among other innovations

YouTube will implement a series of technological measures, among which a function stands out to detect voices and faces generated with artificial intelligence and that seek to simulate the original artist.

The company has been working on the development of the new “image management technology, taking advantage of AI tools to benefit creators, while protecting their rights and increasing control over their content,” according to a statement.

With the measure, the company reaffirms its commitment to “develop technologies that allow its users to manage the use of their image, voice and other elements, especially with the growing presence of artificial intelligence.”

YouTube has launched within Content ID a tool that “identifies synthetic voices generated by AI, helping creators to automatically detect and manage these contents.” In this way, it continues to work on protecting the image of YouTubers, actors, musicians and other professionals to protect their images.

The company has warned about “the risks of unauthorized access to its content through scraping, a technique that can be used to use the content on the platform to train AI models.”

In this sense, the measures have been reinforced, but it has recognized that creators “need greater control over the use of their content by third parties for the development of AI tools.”
