YouTube will remove stories in June

The video platform announced that starting from June 26, this option will no longer be available

YouTube announced that starting from June 26, the option to create stories will no longer be available on the platform, and those published on the same day will expire seven days after being first shared.

Stories are short videos that have a lifespan of one week and can only be created with mobile devices. With them, content creators can connect with their audiences in an informal way, no matter where they are.

Until now, this format was in beta phase and available to channels with over 10,000 subscribers, although once a channel reaches this audience, the functionality may take up to seven days to appear.

YouTube does not allow creating these stories if the channel’s content has been marked as made for kids or if this audiovisual content application is being used through a supervised account.

The company has now announced that the option to create stories will no longer be available starting from June 26 of this year, and those published on the same day will have their usual duration of seven days, after which they will disappear.

YouTube has stated that although this format will disappear, it considers other alternatives it offers, such as YouTube Shorts and Community posts, as “excellent alternatives that can provide valuable connections and conversations with the audience”.

Finally, in a statement, YouTube expressed its commitment to “invest in new and innovative tools” to help content creators increase their audience on YouTube.
