WhatsApp works on setting messages in chats

The messaging platform is working on a new function related to chats, which is already seen in the beta version of Android

WhatsApp began testing the ability to pin messages to the top of chats in the beta version of the app for Android, which will allow users to highlight content from a conversation similarly to Telegram’s pinned messages.

The instant messaging platform continues to implement functions to improve the user experience, on this occasion, providing a way to highlight messages and leave them fixed in the chat, keeping relevant information accessible or that is usually used in a snap. view.

In this sense, WhatsApp is testing a new function that allows messages to be pinned to the top of chats for a period of up to 30 days, as WaBetaInfo was able to verify from update 2.23.21.4 for version Android beta.

Specifically, the service owned by Meta implemented a new action of pinning messages in the chat, available within the options that appear in the message’s menu. Thus, users will be able to pin a message to the top of the conversation for a specific period of time, choosing between 24 hours, seven days or 30 days.

This makes it easier to highlight information within a chat, regardless of whether it is a group conversation or an individual chat. In addition, the pinned message can be discarded at any time, without having to wait for the chosen duration period to end. This is a function similar to that existing in other instant messaging services such as Telegram.

In addition to the option to pin messages, WhatsApp is also testing a redesign of the attachment sending menu, which now has a simpler and more modern style, as shared by the same media in a screenshot.

With this new menu design, icons continue to be displayed for each type of file that can be shared, however, they are displayed with a simpler icon format and framed in a square, leaving behind their round shape. In this way, the platform aims to facilitate the use of the attachment sending menu, with clearer and more intuitive access.

At the moment, the ability to pin messages and the menu redesign are available to a limited group of testers who have the WhatsApp beta version 2.23.21.4 update for Android.
