Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that the country will build its first minisatellite in partnership with China, a task he entrusted to the Minister of Industry, Alex Saab

Through a partnership with China, Venezuela assures that it will soon have its first minisatellite ready. This was announced by the president of the South American nation, Nicolás Maduro, who also appointed the Minister of Industries, Alex Saab, to this task.

Maduro announced the news during the closing of the International Space Congress held in Caracas, stating that the construction of the first Venezuelan minisatellite is “a wonderful idea.”

During the event, the president also emphasized the need to accelerate “the activation and launch,” in collaboration with China, of the “new communications satellite Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro,” a task that “must be pursued and completed promptly.”

The Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, referred to the need to build “a collective strategy that promotes the common good and peaceful study,” and highlighted the innovative projects and solutions that have been shared so that space “is not considered a disputed territory, but an area of ​​global governance, open science, and shared agendas that drive collective development.”
