Venezuela promotes domestic drug production
Representatives from the government and pharmaceutical sectors held a meeting to discuss aspects related to domestic drug production and contributions to vector control
The Sector Vice President for Science, Technology, Ecosocialism, and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, held a meeting with representatives of the pharmaceutical companies Leti, MegaLabs, Elmor, Polinac, and Spefar to discuss the importance of promoting drug production in the country.
The Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez, also participated in the meeting. She commented that topics such as “the prioritization of essential medicines and new therapeutic technologies, as well as the control, quality assurance, and corresponding import permitting of all medicines entering the country” were discussed.
Other topics on the agenda at this meeting included contributions from the scientific community to control vectors that transmit yellow fever, dengue, malaria, and Zika.
