University of Wyoming to create first Bitcoin research institute

The Bitcoin Research Institute will be the first study center for the main cryptocurrency on the market, and will be created by the University of Wyoming, according to an announcement this weekend during the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in the United States

The Bitcoin Research Institute (BRI), which will be created in the United States by the University of Wyoming, is scheduled to open in August 2025, according to an announcement this weekend during the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

It will be the first institute for Bitcoin studies, considering the increase in the adoption of the cryptocurrency. The inauguration is scheduled for August 2025, according to statements by Bradley Rettler, associate professor of philosophy and co-author of “Resistance Money: A Philosophical Case for Bitcoin.” Rettler will be the inaugural director, according to Andrew M. Bailey, who will be a professor at the BRI.

The University of Wyoming has stressed the need for Bitcoin research at another level, as it is currently poor. Likewise, they have pointed out the lack of access to in-depth studies of this cryptocurrency.

“The institute aims to improve the quality and impact of BTC research by providing incentives for academic research. “It is about encouraging new academics to carry out research projects and workshops.”

The Bitcoin Research Institute also plans to host events such as “annual summer workshops, public outreach events, seminars, and special issues of academic journals to connect scholars with Bitcoin studies.”
