United States lifts sanctions on artificial intelligence chips

This Tuesday, the United States government announced the lifting of export restrictions on semiconductors used in the development of artificial intelligence

US President Donald Trump issued instructions this Tuesday to lift import restrictions on semiconductors used in the development of artificial intelligence.

Former President Joe Biden had established these measures days before handing over the presidency to Donald Trump, and they were to take effect on May 15, further harming China.

The suspension of these restrictions comes at a time of negotiations between the United States and China regarding reciprocal tariffs.

“The US Department of Commerce has replaced these new rules with recommendations, which warn, among other things, the public of the potential consequences of allowing US chips to be used to develop Chinese AI models,” the media reported.
