Trump to leave presidency with low approval rating

The US president, who will cede the mandate on January 20 to Joe Biden, will dismiss the position with just a 34 % acceptance

US President Donald Trump will leave office on January 20 with an approval rating of 34 %, the lowest of his entire term, and 8 points lower than the previous record, of October 2020, according to a study by SSRS for CNN.

In contrast, 62 % of Americans reject Trump’s performance, also the highest figure of his period in the White House. Among Republican Party voters, approval has also fallen since October, specifically by 14 points, but 80 % consider his management favorable.

As for the impeachment process opened against the president, 54 % consider that he should be dismissed as a result of the assault on the Capitol by his supporters on January 6, a figure higher than the first, at the end of 2019 and early 2020.

55 % believe that Trump is responsible for a large part of the robbery on the Capitol, 92 % among Democrats and 13% among Republicans.

Another 55 % consider Trump’s term to be a failure, compared to 41 % who consider it a success. 85 % believe that the president has changed the country, but 55 % believe that it has changed for the worse, the first data in the historical series in this regard.

The study is the result of 1,003 telephone interviews conducted between January 9 and 14 with a significant sample of the US population. It has a margin of error of about 3.7 percentage points.
