The first Ibero-American Network for the consolidation of the New Economy was created

The platform will be broadcasting an event today and tomorrow, free of charge, where issues on the circular and regenerative economy will be addressed

More than 300 civil society entities, small and medium-sized companies and individual citizens have promoted the creation of the Ibero-American Network for the New Economy, the first collaboration and co-creation platform that aims to promote the exchange of tools and resources between organizations to promote in Ibero-America a new economic model with a positive impact on people and the planet.

The NESI Forum of New Economy and Social Innovation, a Spanish non-profit entity that has been promoting a more sustainable, fair and collaborative economy in Spain since 2016, is one of the entities in charge of coordinating the Network, together with AGCID Chile, Chilean Cooperation Agency International for Development; CIESCOOP, International Center for Social and Cooperative Economy of the Santiago de Chile University; and CORFO, Corporation for the Promotion of Production.

“The Ibero-American Network for the New Economy will allow us to stay connected and seek community support to generate joint proposals that impact public policies in our respective countries,” says Diego Isabel La Moneda, co-founder and director of Foro NESI.

For his part, Eugenio Possel, Policy analyst at AGCID Chile, explains that in Latin America “there are different initiatives that promote a paradigm shift, but there are few spaces aimed at citizen participation to generate socially and environmentally sustainable economic solutions.”

“The urgency of those of us who are part of the Network is to replace the current model based on consumption and individualism with one that takes care of the great problems of the region, such as social inequality and the climate crisis,” adds Estuardo Fuentes from CIESCOOP, Coordinator of the Technical Assistance and Project Management Area.

The Ibero-American Network for the New Economy has organized the online event We Believe Red, which will take place today and tomorrow between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m.; attendance is free with prior registration. The meeting will feature the participation of leaders in social impact from Ibero-America and a content program based on themes such as circular economy, regenerative economy, ecofeminism, ethical banking and the situation of indigenous peoples. Additionally, there will be a virtual space where you can meet companies, foundations, groups and organizations that are already working for a new economy.
